The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been rampant.
The first season introduces a large cast of personalities living within the afterlife, sets them at odds with musical numbers about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season progresses, and how many of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a couple people create a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
